Angel Strings

rachel

“When I was 9, I remember my uncle returning from a month of missionary work in Fiji. With him he brought slides and an audio cassette (yes those were the days) of the local singing from the area. We later sat at a big family gathering watching the pictures, animated both by his narration and the beautiful voices recorded. At that point I fell in love with harmony and my interest in music was ignited for life. We of course had a musical family as well which kind of helped … but that particular instance is a very vivid memory.”

Daughter of two folk singers, she emerged from a strong gospel/Brittish pop upbringing, peppered with AM radio and classic soul & jazz legends. Her unique sound has come to resemble that of an earthy, acoustic flavoured blend incorporating jazz, soul, pop & R&B. She’s happy to take influences from everywhere! “Nothing is off limits!”

angel

Angel Strings was founded in 2004 by a group of musicians keen to bring their passion for music to the public in as many contexts as possible. Angel Strings are professionally trained musicians with national and international experience. Individual members have performed with the Queensland Symphony and Pops Orchestras, Saint Martin in the Fields and the Australian Youth Orchestra. They have played with such international artists as Nigel Kennedy, Andrea Bocelli, Kanye West, Il Divo, Harry Connick Jr, Julian Lloyd Webber, Rolf Harris and William Barton.

Candlewood

Crafting humble acoustic music with chamber folk overtones, candlewood is the heartfelt musical venture of local singer-songwriter joel thomas. listeners are treated to a perfect marriage of simple finger picking, complex harmonies and honest tales of life, light and love. from the slow and haunting take me home to the upbeat rhythms of morning sun, candlewood delivers delicate lyrics to enchant the ears and soft sounds to soothe the soul. this special performance at room 60 will see candlewood joined by guest musicians including brisbane’s beautiful lauren lucille. fans of quality red wine sounds and whiskey laced tunes should grab a seat early...

Alina Williamson
candlewood
Alina has spent plenty of time being a singer songwriter and spent the majority of her years, so far, in London honing those skills on guitar. When she returned home, she fell once again for her first love, the piano. Since forming and being the main vocalist for The Sunset Junk , she has embraced it with all the enthusiasm of a toddler under the sprinkler on a stinking hot Brisbane day.

She often writes with a glass of red in hand telling of love lost and gained, drinks consumed, random thoughts and sometimes even philosophical musings.
She lends herself well towards jazz, blues, a little folk, a tiny bit of gospel and has that classic singer songwriter style. The boys say its “intelligent pop.”

The Doses
doses
It was the summer of 2011 in Los Angeles, when Australians Mikal Laguerre and Lily House crossed paths and coined the beginning of what was to become The Doses. Both musicians were intent on creating a unique sound that fused their favorite aspects of different genres… mo-town, soul, rock and psychedelia. After a period of recording and gigging, Mikal brought the fledgling sound back to Brisbane (with Lily’s blessing) to be nourished and honed, and picked up three new members along the way.

Rare camp musical set in the futuristic 1994. A young couple enters the world of the music industry, but also the world of drugs.
As one reviewer put it "The Apple is so audacious, so over the top, so totally awful that it is simply wonderful. The songs are cheesy, the acting horrendous, the costumes nightmarish, the concept bizarre, but when all those negatives are put together, the result is a positively guilty pleasure to top all guilty pleasures"

Clark Stanley Music Hour
MUSIC
The Clark Stanley Music Hour started out independently in three different places with three different people. Al Marshall had been a solo acoustic songwriter for some time, as had Duncan Beale & Edward Buckridge. The one thing about being a solo artist, however, is that you just can't do three-part-harmonies and guitar solos by yourself. So, we all decided to band together and flesh out each others songs. So, that's how it first started; as three soloists helping each other out. Of course, now it has evolved (and temporarily lost one member to the insidious ''international travel bug' along the way) and become more than the sum of it's parts. So, what is the goal? Why, to play good music to good people, of course; nothing more, nothing less.
